Evangelicals; Dali Lama will Rot in Hell
The Dali Lama, the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhists, is visiting the U.S. next month and a group of evangelical Christians are ready to save his eternal soul, before it’s too late.
Before I continue with this ridiculous story, let me just splain something to those of you that aren’t familiar with Buddhism or the Dali Lama. According to Tibetan tradition, the current Dali Lama, (the 14th) is believed to be the reincarnation of the 13th Dali Lama, who was reincarnated from the 12th Dali Lama, and so on, all the way back to the very first Dali Lama (Genden Drub), 1391-1474.
I’m sure I’ll get some email from the theologians among you about this next part, but in the most basic sense, Buddhism is considered a major world religion even though they do not worship a God. They believe that man should work to achieve enlightenment while on earth and the Dali Lama is the most enlightened one of all. Evangelical Christians, on the other hand, don’t worry about achieving any kind of enlightenment while they’re on earth, but believe that your soul will be eternally damned unless you are ’saved’ before you die. This would mean being ‘born again’ if you’re already a Christian, or converted, if you’re not.
Now, back to the story.
Interserve USA, an international missionary group, has decided to take the opportunity to ’save’ the Dali Lama and as many of his followers as they can, and are conducting a series of workshops on how to share the gospel with Tibetan Buddhists.
The online announcement of these workshops uses this cute tagline: “Tibetan Buddhism. It’s ancient. It’s complex. It’s trendy. And its leader, the Dali Lama, is visiting your city this spring.”
The executive director of Interserve, Doug Van Bronkhorrst, says, “Oh, sure, he’s a very thoughtful man. He has a lot of good things to say about peace in the world, and he’s quite knowledgeable about other faiths, including the Christian faith.” But, he’s getting on in years and if we can’t save him before he dies, he’ll go straight to fucking hell.
Okay, I paraphrased that last part, that’s why it’s not in quotes, but you get the point. One of the least enlightened humans on the planet believes it’s his job to ’save’ the soul of a man who is quite possibly the most enlightened.
I can see it now. The Dali Lama and his entourage scurrying hurriedly through the airport with a group of Bible-thumping evangelicals following behind them, being chased by a bunch of Hare Krishnas.

Well, you can make it sound anyway you want, but unless you, me, the great”Dali Lama” and everyone else on the planet accepts the death and resurrection of Christ and make Him Lord over our lives, we will die in our sins and the penality is eternal death (hell).

And you know this, how? Just imagine all of the billions of Jews, Hindus, Muslims, and all the rest of the good people that have lived since Jesus died, all ending up in hell because the didn’t accept Jesus as their lord and savior. And you people believe that your god is a loving god? Apparently he only loves you if you worship him, but can you imagine a parent that disowned their child just because that child didn’t worship them? A parent’s love is unconditional, why isn’t your god’s?

sadly, hammer is right. but, fred is right.
i believe that jesus is the messiah, God, and way to heaven. this is my belief and cannot be shaken. i grew up athiest and denied God with all of my lifestyle and mentality.
christians believe we have to ’save’ souls and in our own right, it’s somewhat of a selfish ambition because the church calls it righteous.
we would much rather save souls than live a life that christ taught. this is sin.
Yahweh, in short, means redeemer. and I’m going to say something about the One God, hammer, that most christians would stay away from because it “contradicts” missionary work.
God is jealous.
You want ot know something sickening, hammer, AND fred?
Even if you look at the Bible as a history book, it tells a story of a God who wanted his sons to love him. Jealously he thrashed out in wrath to get their attention, showing them his Glory above all other idols and humans. His jealousy spurned from his love for us, and his desire for us to love him as sons.
but continually humans distanced themselves from him. he continually wanted their attention.
humans selfishly continued on, so he decided to take the price of his own jealous wrath away.
he sent down his only son, him incarnate, and died the penalty of jealousy and wrath that Man continually brought upon themselves, so that he no longer HAD to condemn them if they just believed that was what he did.
all this still historically happened based on research and the bible.
religious people, though, decide that this is their mandate to contradict other religious people because they are prideful and would much rather squelch the Glory of Yahweh and package it into a prideful dogmatic dose of “fire and brimstone”
however, fred is right. those who do not acknowledge christ as the savior, and the employ of God so that we no longer could dwell in comdemnation of God’s jealousy out of his love for us, will be sentenced to hell. God is just, God is jealous, but God is love, and he wants all of his children back to him, that is why he died.
even the Dali Lama can’t reach a state of enlightenment that could match the awesomeness of God Almighty, who died so that all men could be continually brought back to him with an open embrace.

Please. Christianity is based on myths, just like any other religion. Research the similarities between Jesus, Zoroaster, Attis, Buddha, Dionysus, Osiris, Krishna, and Mithra. They’re the same mythical figure. Use the things Jesus said as a guide to live your life in an ethical and moral manner, but don’t expect that when you get to heaven, you’ll find only Christians there.
“Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law, since they show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts now accusing, now even defending them.”–Romans 2:14-15

We’d have a better world if people concerned themselves with their own “salvation” and lived decent lives without infringing on others.
It never ceases to amaze me that most of the wackos in this world see themselves as being in service to their god.

These are probably the same cats that are teaching children that Earth was created by God about 6000 years ago despite the mountains of scientific evidence showing the world is roughly 4 billion years old. For reference, 6000 years ago is about the time dogs evolved and roughly 1000 years after the Sumerians invented glue.

Now, I’m sure I saw this on South Park where upon meeting St. Pete, everyone went to hell except the Mormons, or something daft like that.
Religion is like waiting for a bus. It’s like passing up the first one that comes along with the really fit girl sat near the back.
The only reason you wait for the second bus is because your mother is on it.
If got was a mortal, he’d be a cheap second-hand car salesman.
No, wait! He’d be the guy at the market with the beat-up suitcase trying selling ‘novelty’ cigarette lighters.
The novelty being they don’t light…

Some points unrelated to the ridiculous flame:
1.) Not all Buddhists believe the Dalai Lama is the most enlightened man on earth.
2.) “Dalai Lama” is the preferred Anglicization.
3.) Buddhists have started wars, even amongst themselves. A well-known example of a Buddhist warlord is Genghis Khan.
4.) Needless to say, there is a variety of Christian opinion - even among evangelicals - as to who constitutes the saved and what constitutes salvation.

(Matthew 7:21 NKJV) “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
People who are trying hard to be christians won’t make it to Heaven. Those who do not even try surely will not. Good people do not make it to Heaven. Saved people do. There is only one way to be saved; by the act of baptism throught the death burial and resurrection of Jesus christ. Being good is not good enough if it is not for the glory of God and by His rules. You can believe that or not, but there will be none who doubt when Jesus returns.

All right…why can’t we just say that everyone unite as one? The purpose of religion is to unite everyone together of every culture and to live in peace and harmony. Not only that, it is also for the people to follow the laws of God and to keep the world from being a living hell. However, such corruption from radical people and other idiots living in our society are disrupting the world, causing a war of religions.

I say: Jesus won’t return. You can wait and your grand kids can wait and their great great great grandkids can wait and you can all keep on waiting until the sun stops shining and Jesus will never ever come back.
Furthermore, if God, the omniscient almighty creator, really wanted us humans to have clear messages, they would be written in fiery letters in the sky that everyone in every language could read. They wouldn’t be overblown folk tales about people talking to burning bushes and trying to sacrifice their first born kid. Think about that. Think seriously about it. God. Choosing to speak to man kind through a fucking bush? When was the last time YOU had a conversation with a bush? If a burning bush talked to me, would you even BELIEVE ME ? I WOULDN’T!

Just a note on Buddhism.
Buddhism does not teach that there is no God, it teaches that God is everywhere and everything. God is you and me, the tree, the sky.
Buddhism asks you to follow the example of a great master such as Jesus or Buddha. There have been many great teachers who has shown the way by their own example and live with awareness, Love, kindness and compassion for all beings.
It doesn’t matter what your beliefs are, if you are living this way, you are honouring all of creation, yourself and God.

No offense but I believe that Christianity at its worst is the micky d’s of the religious world. A cheap tasty product mass produced for a mass of unhappy people hungry people looking for the quickest spiritual fulfillment. Don’t get me wrong Christianity has its own unique philosophy and ideas that can be very helpful for some people but it’s often presented as the only religion on the face of the planet. I cant stand this! Of course that’s the “gospel” truth for every Christian who’s never come in to contact with other forms spirituality. These guys with signs or whatever could take a major lesson probably both from Jesus and his holiness about respect and tolerance. I don’t bug the pope please don’t harass the deli please just give me and my faith a littlie respect and space. We can all learn something from each other. As a Buddhist in a pronominally Christian family and community all I ask is for my beliefs to be recognized and respected as a faith built on love respect tolerance and thousands of years of tradition.
I now these evangelicals probably wont get more then a few chuckles from his holiness and that his followers will well out number these few fanatics who would put a shallow hateful mask on there whole religion.

Everyone, hold it.
All unbelievers go to hell?!!!
There is no God?!!!
Everyone will Be saved?!!!
None of these are correct. I’m a Roman Catholic, and a fairly well instructed one; let me explain.
First, Anyone who follows his conscience, and attempts to instruct it will be saved.
Second, weather god exists or not would take far to long to explain (I don’t have much time)
Third, to say that people who are evil, know they are evil, and do not repent are saved is, ridiculous
There is no man ever born, who faithfully followed his conscience, and was damned. To say otherwise is fanatical.
Also, my religion believes you should kindly instruct, and only when some good will come of it. Not mindlessly condemn, and attack,
Just think about this before you post

Christopher,
What kind of a Roman Catholic are you? Last I heard our Bible was the same. And if you actually read it, it clearly states that none are saved except that they believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the one and only son of the one and only God. just so you know, psychology proves that rapists and murderers “faithfully followed their conscience.” Are they automatically saved?
Also you say people are “saved,” what does saved mean? Saved from what and to what? If a man does NOT believe in God but “faithfully followed his conscience” do you think he will spend eternity in heaven with God? That just doesn’t make sense….
So to quote you “There is no man ever born, who faithfully followed his conscience, and was damned. To say otherwise is fanatical.”
To say otherwise is NOT fanatical, but only logical. Fanaticism to me means craziness, and since your statements are illogical you sound like a fanatic to me.

Hello everyone.
I’m not sure if the people who post on here will ever even check back here to see any responses (haven’t we all left various ‘blogs’ left in cyber-space that we’ve forgotton about?), but i thought i’d leave a quick comment anyway for any/all newcomers to this blog. I just want to say that I’ve read each and every post above, and believe me, I can relate w/ them ALL. The reason I say this is because I used to BE one of those believers in ‘all paths lead to God,’ and ‘Christians seem so arrogant to assert that Christ is the only way.’ I have always loved the Dali Lama and all he stands for (still do), and I believed in a pacifistic approach, i.e. ‘if we lead good and compassionate lives we will attain God or Heaven or enlightenment.’ HOWEVER, for all you fellow brothers & sisters reading this, please believe me: I was missing something. Something BIG. You see, Christians are not trying to arrogantly say that THEY are right and deserve heaven; they are saying that NONE of us actually deserve to be in the presence of our Perfect Holy God, and that it is only through God’s great love for us that he actually came down to earth (as Jesus) in order to better relate with us humans, and presented Himself as the ultimate sacrifice so that we MAY be worthy of Him/eternal life. It’s a gift- free of charge; all we are required to do is accept it w/ thanks! No other religion on earth teaches or asserts this “gift” concept: they all (including Buddhism) assert that WE as humans must actually ourselves “earn” or “achieve” something- all by ourselves without the help of God- in order to reach God (or the godhead of their particular belief system.) However, this concept is inherently flawed because no matter how hard we EVER try as humans, no matter how very much we want and desire to be “good,” we will always fall short of the perfection of our true, loving, perfect God. So as a former what you can I guess refer to as “New Age” spiritual believer, I am now (very excitedly!) able to assure you that finding Christ has become the most wonderful, AMAZING thing to ever happen to me, and that I do understand what the term “born again” truly means, without the negative connotations ascribed to “Evangelicals,” and right-winged conservatives that many non-Christians associate w/ being a follower of Christ. (And let’s all remember that the people who follow ANY religion are just that- people. imperfect people. please do not let their mistakes shape your opening of heart and mind to the true teachings of the given doctrine.) I will conclude in just saying this: I just encourage you guys to just simply pray about it. That’s all. If you consider yourself to be “spiritual” in anyway, then that should not be an odd or foreign request. Just pray about it, and ask God Himself to hlep show you the “way.” He will NOT fail you…. I promise.
-a former, fellow “all paths lead to god” beleiver…
