Man Loses One of His Ball’s and Nearly Loses His Arm Too When Gator Attacks

A Florida man was pulled into a golf course pond by an 11-foot alligator when he reached down to retrieve his ball.

alligator bites man's arm

Bruce Burger, 50, was attempting to retrieve his ball from a pond on the sixth hole while playing golf at the Lake Venice Golf Club, Monday. The alligator grabbed him by his forearm and pulled him into the pond, but the man began beating the gator with his free arm until it released him. He wasn’t seriously injured.

The part that upsets me about this story is that the man wasn’t charged with cruelty to animals. There is a ‘Beware of Gator’ sign at the sixth hole. Course manager Rod Parry agrees and said, “Unfortunately, that’s part of Florida. There’s wildlife in these ponds.”

[…] Re: 5yr old kid down the road shoots a Alligator You don’t hear much about it in the rest of the U.S. but this happens a lot in Florida , but they have goofy laws protecting gators. And they are in places where people live.
