Politician Has Solution to Drug Problem

Finally, a politician has come up with an intelligent solution to the world’s drug problem. Talibdin El-Amin (Muslim), a Democratic State Representative from Missouri, has proposed a new law making it far more difficult to acquire sodium bicarbonate, the base ingredient of crack cocaine.

As unbelievable as it seems, sodium bicarbonate is readily available in any grocery store. Yes, ladies and gentleman, you read that right. Right now, you can walk into your local grocery store and buy as much sodium bicarbonate as you can carry and no one will even give you a second glance. Go ahead, run down to the store and buy some now just to prove it to yourself. I’ll wait.

El Amin’s solution is incredibly simple and I find it difficult to believe that no one has suggested it before. The bill would require sodium bicarbonate to be kept behind a pharmacy counter like any other prescription drug and customers will be required to sign a book and specify their name, address and how much of the substance they purchased.

By the way, for those of you that don’t know, there is another name for sodium bicarbonate that you are probably more familiar with. Baking soda.

I have a suggestion for Mr. El Amin. Instead of baking soda, why not water? Stay with me now, because I have given this a great deal of thought and my logic is inescapable. Rather than targeting baking soda, I propose that we control a far more widely available and even more important ingredient used in the production of many drugs, not just crack cocaine.

First, let’s look at the ingredients necessary for the production and distribution of cocaine.

Ingredients required to grow coca plants.

soil
sunshine
air
water

Ingredients used to process the coca plant’s leaves into cocaine.

kerosene
methyl alcohol
sulphuric acid
water

Ingredients necessary to create the drug dealer that will sell the cocaine that was made from the coca leaves that came from the coca plant. Because everyone knows an ant can’t move a coca leaf plant.

parents
food
air
water

What is the one common element? WATER! Control the distribution of water and the world’s drug problem will soon be over.
