You can do Anything with Enough Money
The current administration has been working hard to shut down Internet porn and online gambling sites by making life rough for the people that run or promote them.

In the case of Internet porn, they made revisions to an existing law (2257) and have been telling the public that the purpose of the changes is to protect children. Praise Jesus.

Anyone familiar with the law and the adult entertainment industry knows that the latest changes to 2257 will do absolutely nothing to eliminate child porn. The real motive was to make running an adult website so difficult that even legitimate producers and webmasters would close up shop.

The one thing that Bush and the Fundies just can’t seem to get into their heads is that the Internet is a world wide phenomenon. That’s why it’s called the World Wide Web. The U.S. government can’t force citizens of other countries to follow our laws, so companies in countries like Denmark and Russia can continue to produce as much porn as they want and Internet users from the U.S. will still have access to it.

Fortunately, I have the solution for anyone that lives in the U.S. and wants to safely run a porn company or provide offshore gambling and the U.S. government won’t be able to do didly squat to stop you. The secret is to buy your own country, and I just happen to know of one that is for sale.

For a mere $975 million you can buy your own sovereign island nation, complete with it’s own flag, stamps, money and passport. The name of the country is Sealand. I guess the current owner named it that because it’s surrounded by the sea, but I’m not quite sure about the land part.

There is at least one drawback to this though and that’s the size of the island, although the owner says the views are spectacular and the neighbors are… well, there aren’t any neighbors.

Here is a photograph of the island and as you can see, you’ll have a hard time hiding any nuclear weapons, which does bring up another drawback, because if President Bush decided to invade your country to shut down your operations, he wouldn’t have to take a lot of troops away from the war in Iraq.

Ironically, I am from Denmark, and my ex appeared in a Hustler mag (”Barely Legal”) once - the porn we make over here is usually sold to the US because the market is so big…
