You’re Plutoed
As most of you are probably aware by now, Pluto is no longer considered a planet and we will now be teaching children that there are eight planets in the solar system.
For those of you that don’t know, the General Assembly of the International Astronomical Union has decided that Pluto no longer meets the requirements to be considered a planet.
Don’t worry though, because Pluto will not fade from history and go back to simply being Mickey Mouse’s dog, but will be forever remembered as the planet that once was and the inspiration for a new word for ‘demoted’.
The American Dialect Society has picked the new word ‘Plutoed’ as their 2006 Word of the Year. The society defines “to Pluto” as “to demote or devalue someone or something”.
Donald Trump should jump on this one and when a member of The Apprentice causes their team to lose a challenge, he can point his finger at them and say “You’re Plutoed”.
